Commission Me

Process

The process of commissioning me begins when you contact me with an idea for a painting. If you don’t already have a photo you would like me to work from, or if you have several photos and are unsure which would work best as a painting, I am happy to help. Once we settle on a photo and the dimensions you would like, I begin the painting. During the painting process, I will contact you with any questions I have about details in the painting. I may also send photos so you can see how the painting is progressing. Once I finish, I send photos or meet with you in person so you can see the painting and make sure you are happy with it before I mail or deliver it in person.

Reference Photos

I do my commissioned paintings from photos. They can be either photos taken by me or photos that you provide, depending on the subject matter. Because of copyright, I cannot use photos taken by a professional photographer without their permission.

Pricing

Pricing is dependent on the size of the painting, reference photo quality, and complexity. If you're not sure exactly what you want, I'm happy to discuss options with you and see if we can find what would best fit your wishes and budget.

Payment

I ask commissioning clients to pay 50% of the price we have agreed on before I begin painting. The remainder is not due until they have approved of and received the finished painting.

Revisions

I am happy to make changes during the painting process. I charge 20% of the price of the painting to cover the time and supplies for substantial changes. I am usually able to make minor changes free of charge.

Timing

How long a painting takes varies, depending on the size and complexity of the painting as well as how many paintings are on my wait list. I usually estimate 6-8 weeks from the time I start a painting until it is ready to ship or deliver.
